Hello Leopard Families!

Replacement Levy Supports Student Learning

Remember to Vote by Feb. 13

Our school district has a Replacement Levy on the ballot Feb. 13 to continue funding beyond state basic educational programs and operations to support student readiness, safety and security, educational technology and extracurricular programs:

  • Highly Capable programs and interventions for struggling learners
  • Class size maintenance
  • Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate testing
  • Librarians, textbooks and library materials
  • Nurses, counselors, security officers and safety support staff
  • Student safety, mental health and behavior intervention supports
  • Security enhancements at schools
  • Updated technology for effective instruction and student learning
  • Music, art and performing arts beyond state basic education funding
  • Athletics, activities, clubs and extracurricular transportation

The Replacement Levy would replace the current levy that expires at the end of 2024. Approval of the Replacement Levy is estimated to assess $2.36 per $1,000 of assessed property value.

Ballots will be mailed on Jan. 26. You can register to vote online (https://voter.votewa.gov) or via mail by Feb. 5, or in-person up to Election Day, by visiting the Pierce County Elections Office, 2501 S. 35th St. C, Tacoma, WA 98409.

Hazel Health

Hazel Health provides students with access to free mental health counseling and virtual on-demand doctor visits without having to leave school during the day, with services available Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

For key information about Hazel Health, what providers can help with, and a walkthrough of a typical visit, watch this series of short videos.

COVID-19

Updates Families of students who receive a positive COVID-19 test result should submit a Positive Student Report Form. Once a report is submitted, recommendations for your student’s return will be received via email from the district COVID-19 Support Specialist.

While isolation is no longer required, refraining from sending ill students to school helps keep our school open by reducing the transmission of COVID-19 and other illnesses.

The onsite COVID-19 test administration services provided at the Harry E. Lang stadium are no longer available. Please contact our health staff by calling 253-583-5320 to receive a free at-home testing kit or visit https://www.sayyescovidhometest.org/ and https://www.covid.gov/tests to have free test kits sent to your home.

Give 6

Give 6 to Lakeview students to make a difference! Teachers, families, and community members are invited to forge six meaningful connections with students each day that can be the catalyst for growth and accomplishment.

You can Give 6 to your student by:

  • Giving them a hug, fist bump or high five.
  • Affirming their strengths.
  • Initiating a conversation and asking how they are doing.
  • Modeling positive behavior and effective communication skills.
  • Explaining that you acknowledge and value their efforts/positive behavior.

Participating in Give 6 is simple. When you interact with someone, let them know how their actions make them a valuable part of their surroundings. Join us in empowering students and showing them their potential to flourish and impact their community.

Come work for us!

If you are looking for work, please consider our school district. We are in HIGH need of substitutes for teachers, para educators, LPNs, and bus drivers. The front page of the CPSD website has more information, including hiring bonuses for hard to fill positions. https://www.cloverpark.k12.wa.us/ Look for “Join Our Team” in the changing slides at the top of the page. There are positions open at Lakeview right now! Please feel free to reach out to our staff if you have questions.

We are always looking for substitute teachers to help cover both teacher and para absences.

As always, please contact us if you have questions or concerns. We thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,
Kylie Danielson – Principal
